IGNASIA'S PANTAI INDAH KAPUK

For the last two years, I have seen a rapid growth for healthy indulgence and I am pretty sure that all-things-healthy are going to have more recognition as the years roll, I just feel like people nowadays tend to understand more how important it is to consume healthier food and the idea of you-are-what-you-eat! At the moment I might not be the master of it as my job requires me to sample various feast, but align with what I am saying, in this entry I'll briefly review the newly opened healthy dessert cafe in Pantai Indah Kapuk: IGNASIA'S (or Cake Me Away by Ignasia).

The cafe's named after its owner, Ignasia, a passionate baker who started the business from a small home business and now realizing her dream to have her own dessert cafe, and by dessert I am talking about her homemade cakes, fruit based chia pudding, and smoothie bowls. They say believe in your dreams.

On the day of my visit, I noticed they're still finishing little details of the cafe's front construction but the main dining area is finished.
The cafe is not the most spacious but the interior is so well decorated and pretty with major white color, hanging plants, and wood combination, my favorite seat is of course the one next to the window for the natural light charm and also good for pictures. Anyway, my date yesterday, my preggo sister!
They have 9 choices of Smoothie Bowls that you can further customize to your liking and add extra various toppings such as Fruits (banana, kiwi, strawberry, orange), Crunch (granola, almond, nuts) and Superfoods (raisin, goji berry, chia seeds, cranberries, sunflowers seeds), 5 actual Smoothies (lol), 7 kinds of whole cakes (and available in slices too), Tartlets, Swiss Rolls and Cheesecakes. If you fancy anything else besides smoothie for the drinks, they also have organic coffee, fresh juices, and non-coffee drinks (tea, chocolate). Speaking of organic, Ignasia's parents business are in the organic items business, so when it comes to organic ingredients, I bet she has the basic knowledge and taste for it.

Price range for the smoothie bowls starts from IDR 45k-55k (with toppings fro IDR 7k), smoothies for IDR 35k and cakes at IDR 40k. Loving the price tag on the smoothie bowls as normally the other ones in Jakarta are so fucking bloody expensive damnit.
Tried three cakes Red Velvet Cake, Cheese Cake and Carrot Cake, since I have always been an avid fan of Carrot Cake I guess that one was my favorite! It was very moist without much texture (even though some people like the extra crunch from the nut), very simple but I expected the stronger and bolder cinnamon aroma and hint, but texture wise: beautiful! The Red Velvet cake was something that I was a bit skeptical about but it was my sister's favorite, it was again, moist, with the right balance of sweetness and as for the Cheese Cake, I didn't try but my sister did.

From the Smoothie Bowl series, I tried four of their highlighted menus: Ignasia's Signature (the purple one) which consist of Red Dragon as the base, Bana-Nut, Blend-Nana and Juicy Fruity.

Clockwise starting from the purple one: Ignasia's Signature, Juicy Fruity, Blend-Nana and Bana-Nut, and the center is the Mango Chia Pudding (more on that below)
Ignasia's Signature: red dragon fruit, banana, strawberry, blueberry, avocado, soy milk, yogurt
Bana-Nut: banana, peanut butter, yogurt, soy milk
Blend-Nana: banana, yogurt, cacao powder, skimmed milk
Juicy Fruity: mango, pear, pineapple, avocado, chia seeds, skimmed milk

If you ask me to name my favorite then it would be the Bana-Nut, I found this one having the boldest flavor, and I might be biased here since I love peanut butter and the combo on the Bana-Nut was amazing! My least favorite would be the Juicy Fruity, just not the texture I like, but flavor wise I kinda like it, generally I found their smoothie bowls to be pretty good (and not to mention the affordable price).
Mango Chia Pudding - IDR 45k
I like their smoothie bowls but I LOVE their Mango Chia Pudding, I think this was my favorite item from this cafe for the spot on everything: sweet, creamy but altogether delicate and beautiful on my palate! I don't know are you more the smoothie bowl person or the chia pudding person? I might be the chia pudding person as I love the healthy porridge like texture and when it comes to mango, can't say no to! MUST TRY!
There's not a lot of healthy cafes in Pantai Indah Kapuk and the arrival of Ignasia's adds in more options to those who fancy some smoothie bowl goodness but too lazy to drive to the South!

HOUSE OF YUEN BY SUN TUNG LOK - FAIRMONT JAKARTA

I know it's been a while since I hosted this lunch event but I am still super duper excited to share the story to you, well simply because it's too good to keep it for myself, first of all, special thanks for my blogger and social media influencer friends who made the effort to come and spent some time to have lunch here.

The intimate lunch took place at House of Yuen by Sun Tung Lok, which if you guys are not aware, their Hong Kong's outlet is awarded with one-Michelin star so expect some top notch Cantonese cuisine, their Jakarta outlet is located at the third floor of Fairmont Hotel Jakarta.

The interior rings fancy and glamorous, the kind of place that when you stepped yourself in, you know this is a serious restaurant, and they did put good effort in decorating the restaurant as well as the detailing! The overall combination of gold, velvet blue and white chrome is lovely posh.

The restaurant has around 250 seating capacities and accommodate 12 private rooms for special occasions.
Special thanks for the honorable sponsors who have kindly supported the event that day: The Clementines, Orlins Events, Kaya Tea Organic and Sweet Escape for capturing the moments (will be sharing more pics from Sweet Escape at the end of this post)
I am going to give the review based on my personal experience as a guest here, but one thing that really stick with me about House of Yuen is the super attentive service, when you're a reputable restaurant it better comes with good food that's as much as the incredible service, thoughts on food as you scroll this entry but the service was top notch! Even though most of the time I walked around making sure everything's okay and everyone's enjoying their lunch but I remember how they escorted me to my seat, how well they took care of my guests, offering drinks, made the cloth, little details that matter to me and they nailed it.
Pamela Wirjadinata, Catherine Halim
Yours truly, just feel the need to upload a picture of me, thank you Henji Wong for taking this for me!
As I mentioned earlier, House of Yuen emphasizes in serving top notch Chinese-Cantonese high dining so expect some fancy looking (and tasting) food served to your tables, they also offer various Dim Sum selections (until 3 PM daily), a la carte and premium menus. Do note that the food you're about to see is adjusted to sampler sizes to fit the concept of the lunch event that day, that's a good thing tho so that we can sample various dishes before feeling too full before we even approached the main courses.
Appetizer Sampler
Consist of Diced Ox-Tongue in XO Chili Sauce, Salted Egg Crispy Fish Skin, Old Fashioned Smoked Garoupa Fish Fillet and Deep Fried Prawns with Wasabi Aioli
Everything about the appetizer sampler is awesome, nothing that I don't like but if you ask me to name my favorites, it would be the Salted Egg Crispy Fish Skin! I like how aside from the fish skin, the other else was beautifully seasoned, unique in their own way and altogether delicious.
Salted Egg Crispy Fish Skin
One word: PERFECT! They cooked the fish skin to a state where it's perfectly crunchy without being super dry, the salted egg seasoning was so good: salty, rich, with that gritty salted egg texture that I super fond of, definitely exceeded my expectation even before sampling it. MUST TRY!
Spicy Imperial Hot and Sour Soup with Lobster
Another refreshing starter to warm up my palate before indulging it with main courses goodness! The soup was flavorful and delicate in the same time, but it was the lobster that was the highlight of this dish! Gnerously given, fresh with naturally sweet flavor, chunky, crunchy. Another top recommended menu!
Photoshoots in between lunch with my best girls!
Left: Braised Prime Rib with House Gravy, Right: Oven Baked King Prawns Cheese and Spicy XO Sauce
Braised Prime Rib with House Gravy
8 hours of slow cooking process, awesome cooking technique and bold seasoning might be three of the main keys why this dish was the champion for me! The rib was so tender and juicy to the point where I barely lost any calorie slicing it (fell of the bone easily), the gravy was this beautiful mix of sweet and savory, the kind of sauce that matched this kind of dish perfectly, just spot on! MUST MUST TRY! Go ask for the biggest portion to share, I can guarantee you major foodgasm.
Oven Baked King Prawns Cheese and Spicy XO Sauce
Texture wise, the prawn was nicely cooked and absolutely fresh but somehow the cheese and sauce didn't absorb inside the meat of the prawn the way I expected it. I was looking for bold, salty, savory but it was like two different flavors from two different elements that didn't blend in together.
Minced Wagyu Fried Rice
I seriously have no problem about the wagyu being minced since I've always loved beef fried rice and it's very Chinese style that it's minced instead of diced, but again it's the matter of preference and both should be equally delicious if you know how to cook it beautifully! The wok-hei aroma and flavro of Chinese style fried rice are always my thing, and this was that, along with its simplicity, and light seasoning. LOVE!
Chilled Mango Pudding
For dessert, we had this Chilled Mango Pudding that's simple, fresh, creamy, perfectly sweet and such a sweet closure/palate cleanser.

Based on my visit to House of Yuen, I can proudly say that they are one of the best Chinese-Cantonese restaurants in town or at least one of my personal favorites! Great food, great service, reasonable pricing for the experience that you're paying and I am so looking forward for the upcoming visits, and for sure experience the full courses.

Thank you House of Yuen for so far, one of the best lunches in 2017!

ALTITUDE GRILL JAKARTA - THE PLAZA

Confirming the floating news, after the 4-year contract with Luke Mangan ends, what was Salt Grill is now replaced with a new concept from the group: ALTITUDE GRILL, a classic Western steakhouse that's ready to grill and you some high quality proteins! Was invited to the pre-opening lunch and here I am briefly sharing my thoughts of this restaurant for you.
Opening this post with a view of Jakarta after the rain, not going to show you much of the interior as I don't think the interior has entirely finished, will update this post on my future visits (I believe there will be), but they do have 110 seating capacities and the vibe is way more casual than Salt Grill (if you've been there before).
Apple Mango and Prawn Cocktail - IDR 160k
The serving idea of this prawn cocktail is to mix everything together for the harmony of flavor and texture. It's a light and refreshing appetizer to warm up your palate, the prawn was fresh, and the mango's there to give a tiny bit of additional sweet and tangy, unfortunately to be honest for IDR 160k a tad too expensive.
Scallop Filled Squid Rings (non halal) - IDR 280k (three pieces)
This was one of my personal favs from the Appetizer menu that day for its simplicity, all about fresh ingredient, light flavor but altogether an exciting harmony! The squid was tender and beautifully firm, placed surrounding the scallop like a ring! The scallop was also very fresh then lightly seasoned but it was the raspberry bacon jam, parsley shallot plush and crispy Pancetta that's really enhancing the overall flavor.
Triple Cooked Wagyu Ox-Tongue - IDR 180k
Now this was the star from the Appetizer section, this was too good they actually offered and gave us three portions! The tongue was so perfectly cooked that it's super tender, probably zero calorie spent slicing it (it was THAT tender and juicy), love the char-grilled aroma and the unexpectedly delicious Creamed Hazelnut Dukkah!
Oven Baked Salted Egg Hollandaise Black Cod - IDR 320k
Perfectly cooked black cod with Salted Egg Hollandaise dressing that's thick and creamy but without the uber rich salted egg flavor on the sauce which I kinda like because I think when it comes to a protein as premium and fresh like Black Cod I would have opt to sample the natural flavor of the fish more than the sauce.
For the star of the menu aka meats, they serve mainly high quality premium meat with awesome marbling, but if you fancy dry aged meat, they do have some but it's not their specialties (I mean if you really want dry aged meat just go to AB Steak they have more options for this particular range).

Bistecca a la Altitudine (1 KG) - IDR 260k/100 gr
Minimum order 500 gr!
The cut is Sher Wagyu MBS 8/9 T Bone and Chef Gary sliced the chunky fresh-from-the-grill meat before our eyes effortlessly, proving just how tender and juicy this was! Do not go further than 'medium' for the best temperature, unless you want to waste a beautiful protein like this!
You can pair the glorious steak with various desired side dishes like Truffle Fries (IDR 95k), Confit Shallots (IDR 80k), Whipped Potatoes (IDR 90k), Buttered Spiced Corn and Crisp (IDR 80k), and Buttered Broccoli Gratin (IDR 80k)
Texture close up! OMG the fat part was the most amazing!!!
Picanha - IDR 225k/100 gr
The T bone steak was great and this was beautiful on its own way! The Picanha which kinda reminds me of Flat Iron steak had beautiful marbling, also beautifully cooked too (AGAIN DON'T GO MORE THAN MEDIUM!), tender, juicy, omg the description is boring AF short to say this was DELICIOUS!
Steak Sampler - IDR 1,1 mil
Honestly this is a very good deal if you're planning to check out some of the stars/best selling menus here! The Meat Sampler consist of 5 options: Wagyu Ox-tongue, Tenderloin, Picanha, Rib Eye and Skirt. Was too full to indulge on this one but tasted the Tongue and Picanha so I believe it's going to be legit!
Dessert Buffet - IDR 150k
One of the most fascinating things about Altitude Grill is surely their dessert buffet, and I honestly didn't expect that they would come up with this concept for their dessert! For IDR 150k you'll be getting a lot of options from mini cakes, tartlets, pannacota, sliced cakes, chocolate fondue to ice creams! The Coconut Pannacota, coconut sponge cake something (forgot the actual name), and chocolate ice cream were some of my favorites!

Not sure if you can come just to have their desserts but I'll go and ask them!

If you ask me to name my favorite steakhouses in Jakarta, and as I just thought about it in 30 seconds, I can't name a lot, probably under 5 that really stands out, and the arrival of Altitude Grill just adds in more options to the steakhouses in Jakarta! Indeed targeted for A class customers but still there's a sense of humbleness about this restaurant that I like.
